Contact Cornwall Electronic Repairs
If you have electronic equipment that requires investigation or repair, please contact us with as much information as possible as listed on our Request a Repair page.
Manufacturer and model numbers are particularly useful, together with a clear description of the fault and details of anything that happened immediately before the equipment stopped working.
Photographs can also be helpful for unusual equipment, PCB repairs and visibly damaged components.
We consider domestic, commercial, specialist and legacy electronic equipment throughout Cornwall.
Please contact us first using the form below, before bringing or sending any equipment, so that we can first establish whether it is suitable for assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions about our repair services.
Find answers regarding our electronic diagnostic processes, device turnaround times, and service coverage.
What types of equipment do you repair?
We consider a wide range of domestic, commercial and specialist electronic equipment, including televisions, audio equipment, game consoles, computers, power supplies, electronic control boards, test equipment and other electronic devices.
We also consider unusual, older and difficult-to-replace equipment.
If you are unsure whether we can look at your item, please contact us with the manufacturer, model number and a description of the fault.
Do you repair circuit boards rather than replace them?
Yes, where practical.
Our preference is to diagnose faults at PCB and component level rather than automatically replacing a complete circuit board.
Depending upon the fault and construction of the board, this may involve testing and replacing individual components such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors, MOSFETs, IGBTs, regulators, rectifiers, connectors and other electronic components.
However, component-level repair is not possible or economical in every case.
Can you repair obsolete equipment?
Potentially, yes.
Legacy and obsolete electronic equipment is one of the areas we are particularly interested in.
Older equipment can often remain useful long after manufacturer support has ended, and component-level repair may provide an alternative when complete replacement boards are no longer available.
Repair will depend upon the nature of the fault, availability of components and the overall condition of the equipment.
Do you repair equipment for businesses?
Yes.
We consider commercial electronic equipment, control boards, power supplies, electronic modules and other specialist equipment.
Component-level diagnosis can be especially valuable for businesses where replacement equipment is expensive, obsolete or difficult to obtain.
Please contact us with details of the equipment and the fault so that we can determine whether we can assist.
Can I post equipment to you?
Yes, by prior arrangement.
Smaller equipment and individual circuit boards may be suitable for postal or courier delivery.
Please contact us before sending anything so that we can confirm that the equipment is suitable for assessment and provide the correct delivery details.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that equipment is adequately packaged for transport.
Do you provide a free diagnosis?
Initial discussion of the fault is free, but detailed electronic diagnosis may be chargeable.
Professional fault diagnosis can require significant bench time and the use of specialist test equipment.
Where a diagnostic charge applies, this will be explained before detailed investigation begins.
Is every item repairable?
Unfortunately not.
Some equipment cannot be economically or technically repaired because of severe PCB damage, unavailable proprietary components, inaccessible assemblies, extensive previous damage or the cost of repair compared with the value of the equipment.
Our aim is to provide a realistic assessment rather than recommend unnecessary work.
Will you repair equipment that somebody else has already attempted to repair?
Possibly.
We are happy to consider equipment that has previously been investigated or repaired, but previous work can make diagnosis more difficult.
Please tell us about any previous repair attempts, components that have been replaced or modifications that have been made.
Equipment with significant PCB damage or extensive previous rework may require additional diagnostic time and may not always be repairable.
Can you source obsolete electronic components?
In many cases, yes.
We can investigate the availability of original components, new-old-stock parts or suitable modern equivalents.
However, some obsolete or proprietary components can be extremely difficult or impossible to obtain.
Where substitutes are considered, they must be technically suitable for the circuit and application.
Do you repair mains-powered equipment?
Yes, we can consider mains-powered electronic equipment.
This includes equipment containing mains power supplies, switch-mode power supplies and other high-voltage electronic circuits.
All work is assessed individually and must be suitable for safe diagnosis and repair.
Some categories of equipment may be declined if specialist certification, safety testing or facilities outside the scope of our workshop are required.
How much does diagnosis cost?
Diagnostic cost depends upon the type of equipment and complexity of the fault.
A straightforward fault may require relatively little investigation, while intermittent, unusual or component-level faults can require considerably more bench time.
Where a diagnostic charge applies, we will explain the likely cost before proceeding.
Once the fault has been identified, we can normally advise whether repair is practical and provide an indication of the likely repair cost.
Do you guarantee repairs?
Repairs are covered for the specific fault and work carried out, subject to the terms provided with the repair.
A repair guarantee cannot normally cover unrelated faults, misuse, accidental damage, additional failures elsewhere in the equipment or components that were not part of the original repair.
The applicable guarantee period will be confirmed when the repair is completed.
How long will a repair take?
Repair time varies depending upon the equipment, complexity of the fault and availability of replacement components.
Straightforward repairs may be completed relatively quickly, while difficult electronic faults, intermittent problems, legacy equipment or repairs requiring uncommon components can take longer.
We prefer to diagnose and repair equipment properly rather than rush the process.
Where possible, we will keep you informed if a repair is likely to take longer than expected.
