Contact Us at Cornwall Electronic Repairs

If you have electronic equipment that requires investigation or repair, please contact us with as much information as possible, using the below secure “Contact Us Cornwall Electronic Repairs” form.

Manufacturer and model numbers are particularly useful, together with a clear description of the fault and details of anything that happened immediately before the equipment stopped working.

We consider domestic, commercial, specialist and legacy electronic equipment throughout Cornwall.

There is no commitment at this stage. We will review the information and let you know whether the equipment appears suitable for assessment.

Please contact us via the form below before sending any equipment so we can determine its suitability for assessment, or send us your details to our email address, shown below.

Frequently Asked Questions about our repair services.

Find answers regarding our electronic diagnostic processes, device turnaround times, and service coverage.

What types of equipment do you repair?

We handle a wide range of domestic, commercial, and specialised electronic equipment, including televisions, audio systems, gaming consoles, computers, power supplies, electronic control boards, testing equipment, and other electronic devices.

We also evaluate uncommon, vintage, and hard-to-replace equipment.

If you are unsure whether we can service your item, please contact us with the manufacturer, model number, and a detailed description of the issue.

Do you repair circuit boards rather than replace them?

Yes, where practical.

We prioritise diagnosing faults at the PCB and component level instead of automatically replacing the entire circuit board.

Depending on the fault and the board’s design, this process may involve testing and replacing individual components such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors, MOSFETs, IGBTs, voltage regulators, rectifiers, connectors, and other electronic parts.

However, repairing components individually is not always feasible or cost-effective.

Can you repair obsolete equipment?

Potentially, yes.

We are particularly interested in diagnosing and repairing legacy and obsolete electronic equipment.

Older equipment can often remain useful long after manufacturer support has ended, and component-level repair may provide an alternative when complete replacement boards are no longer available.

Repair will depend upon the nature of the fault, availability of components and the overall condition of the equipment.

Do you repair equipment for businesses?

Yes.

We consider commercial electronic equipment, control boards, power supplies, electronic modules and other specialist equipment.

Component-level diagnosis can be especially valuable for businesses where replacement equipment is expensive, obsolete or difficult to obtain.

Please contact us with details of the equipment and the fault so that we can determine whether we can assist.

Can I post equipment to you?

Yes, by prior arrangement.

Smaller equipment and individual circuit boards may be suitable for postal or courier delivery.

Please contact us before sending anything so that we can confirm that the equipment is suitable for assessment and provide the correct delivery details.

Customers are responsible for packaging equipment securely and appropriately for transport.

Do you provide a free diagnosis?

Initial discussion of the fault is free, but detailed electronic diagnosis may be chargeable.

Professional fault diagnosis can require significant bench time and the use of specialist test equipment.

If a diagnostic charge applies, we will explain it before beginning any detailed investigation.

Is every item repairable?

Unfortunately not.

Some equipment cannot be economically or technically repaired because of severe PCB damage, unavailable proprietary components, inaccessible assemblies, extensive previous damage or the cost of repair compared with the value of the equipment.

Our aim is to provide a realistic assessment rather than recommend unnecessary work.

Will you repair equipment that somebody else has already attempted to repair?

Possibly.

We are happy to assess equipment that has previously been investigated or repaired, although earlier work may make fault diagnosis more difficult.

Please describe any previous repair attempts, replaced components, or modifications that have been made.

Equipment with significant PCB damage or extensive previous rework may require additional diagnostic time and may not always be repairable.

Can you source obsolete electronic components?

In many cases, yes.

We can investigate the availability of original components, new-old-stock parts or suitable modern equivalents.

However, some obsolete or proprietary components can be extremely difficult or impossible to obtain.

All substituted components will be technically compatible with the intended circuit and application requirements.

Do you repair mains-powered equipment?

Yes, we can consider mains-powered electronic equipment.

This includes equipment containing mains power supplies, switch-mode power supplies and other high-voltage electronic circuits.

All work is assessed individually and must be suitable for safe diagnosis and repair.

We may decline equipment that requires specialist certification, safety testing or facilities beyond the scope of our workshop.

How much does diagnosis cost?

Diagnostic cost depends upon the type of equipment and complexity of the fault.

A straightforward fault may require relatively little investigation, while intermittent, unusual or component-level faults can require considerably more bench time.

Where a diagnostic charge applies, we will explain the likely cost before proceeding.

Once the fault has been identified, we typically advise whether a repair is practical and provide an estimate of the likely repair cost.

Do you guarantee repairs?

Repairs are covered for the specific fault and work carried out, subject to the terms provided with the repair.

A repair guarantee cannot normally cover unrelated faults, misuse, accidental damage, additional failures elsewhere in the equipment or components that were not part of the original repair.

We will confirm the applicable guarantee period when we complete the repair.

Why do you not have any online reviews?

We primarily work through word of mouth rather than chasing online reviews.

While you are more than welcome to leave us feedback, it is never expected.

How long will a repair take?

Repair time varies depending upon the equipment, complexity of the fault and availability of replacement components.

Straightforward repairs will be completed relatively quickly, while complex faults, intermittent problems, legacy equipment, and repairs requiring uncommon components usually take longer.

We prefer to diagnose and repair equipment properly rather than rush the process.

Where possible, we will keep you informed if a repair is likely to take longer than expected.
